Who the hell am I?

Hi, I’m Cheyenne Bearfoot! I’m an Indigenous (Chiricahua Apache) photographer from San Francisco, California.

Born and raised in the Central Valley, this is where I developed an interest and love for the art. I’ve been taking photos of things ever since I can remember on any device I could get my hands on. Everything from my mom’s T-mobile flip phone to my older sister’s digital camera. (Sorry for being a complete menace, sis!)

In 2018, during my Sophomore year of college at University of California Santa Cruz, I formally began my professional photography journey. Usually for very little pay or a meal, I started to shoot senior grad photos, urban street photography, boudoir, cosplay photos and documentary-style projects — I was itching to get experience working for a diverse clientele and expand my skills.

By 2020, the pandemic struck and I hit a wall. It was time to focus inward on what I wanted to change about my work. For the first half of the year, I focused my attention on learning how to edit on Adobe Lightroom — which went poorly, not gonna lie — and I gave up multiple times because it was so much harder than editing on that highly convenient software that came with my computer.(Cringe, I know, but we’ve all been there!)

With the help of my friends, I began going on photoshoots again throughout the Central Valley and Santa Cruz during the dog days of that summer so I could build my portfolio.

Let’s fast forward 3 years, shall we? I’m straddling work as a social video producer for a news media agency and trying to make this photographer thing work (again).

Each shoot I go on has to contain a bit of adventure, which is why you see a lot of my photos take place in nature or in unassuming locations like the outskirts of my hometown or a grimy alleyway. I don’t seek perfection with my locations — as long as it feels right for the shoot.

By providing a safe, judgement-free zone, you can take up space to be your 100% authentic self. I’ll guide you through poses and movements that will help you feel comfortable expressing yourself physically and emotionally in front of the camera.

After a session with me, I want you to feel confident being in your own skin, empowered to make decisions that will help you look and feel your best, and inspired to try some of the photography techniques you'll learn on your shoot in your daily life.

There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing you overjoyed with how you look. It’s the reason I love what I do!

If you're looking to make art and have a fun time, I'm the photographer for you!
